Privacy Policy

Your data belongs to you. Here's how we handle it.

Who we are

Bar Time is a time-recording and billing tool built for barristers and legal professionals in England & Wales. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at admin@bartime.co.uk.

What data we collect

We collect information you give us directly:

  • Contact form submissions — your name, email address, and message.
  • Account registration — your name, email address, and a password you choose.
  • Time entries and billing data — matter names, time records, and fee notes you create within the app.

We do not purchase data from third parties or collect information from public sources.

How we use your data

  • To provide and maintain the Bar Time service.
  • To respond to enquiries submitted through the contact form.
  • To send service-related communications (e.g. password resets, important updates).
  • To improve the product based on usage patterns (aggregated and anonymised).

We will never sell your personal data to third parties.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies to keep the site working properly:

  • Essential cookies — needed for authentication and security (e.g. session tokens).
  • Preference cookies — remember choices like cookie consent.

We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. You can clear cookies at any time through your browser settings.

Where your data is stored

All data is stored on UK-hosted AWS infrastructure. We use encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest to protect your information. Access is restricted to authorised personnel only.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Contact form submissions are retained for up to 12 months. If you close your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Request deletion of your data.
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data.
  • Request a portable copy of your data.

To exercise any of these rights, email admin@bartime.co.uk. We aim to respond within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or through the app. The latest version will always be available on this page.
